Libera i prigionieri!

Destinazione: ŠKOFJA LOKA

Attacco dei partigiani.

21. dicembre 1941

Con un gruppetto di partigiani vestiti in uniformi tedesche confiscate, con un coraggioso sotterfugio irrompi  nelle carceri giudiziarie e libera alcuni prigionieri!

The Gestapo prisons in Loška, which were located on the premises of today’s Škofja Loka Administrative Unit, were the torture chamber of many Loška OF activists and conscious people during the days of the occupation.
Here, those arrested were interrogated, tortured and many were sent on to refugee prisons. The headquarters of the Cankar’s Battalion decided to rescue the prisoners at Presečnik on Sv. Ožbolt, despite the strong German presence in the town.
On 21 December 1941, three fighters broke into the Škofja Loka prison. Lojze Pečnik and Franc Štular, in the uniforms of German gendarmes, and Jaka Božnar, as an arrested smuggler, tricked their way to freedom for the prisoners.

Only the brothers Jože and France Kavčič seized the opportunity.
The action was carried out by the partisans with the help of the Loška’s League of Communist Youth, and after the successful action in December 1941, 17 Loška men went to the Cankarjev Battalion.
