The Partisans attack first.
June 12th 1944
To keep the German troops away from the Italian battlefields, the Headquarters of the 7th Corps tasked the 15th Division to demolish the Štempetov bridge between Verd and Logatec.
After the artillery destroyed all the bunkers defending Štampetov bridge and the Cankar Brigade successfully defeated the bridge defenders, the saboteurs used a thousand kilograms of explosive, destroying one support and two arches. It took the Germans 22 days to fix the bridge.
